NY Yoga Magazine - Jun/Jul-2008 - The Ethics and Morals of Yoga
Om Yogis and Yoginis, Well summer is finally here. And what betterway to begin than by going to the New York Yoga & Raw Foods Expo at the Hotel New Yorker on June 6-8. Imagine taking Yoga classes all day for three days and unlimited lectures for only $30. This is a yogi’s dream come true. When you see me there please say hello. Starting withe the September/October issue, I will be combining NEWLIFE magazine and NY Yoga magazine. This will be a win-win for NY Yoga magazine since it will now be on a much higher quality paper stock and the circulation will increase by one-third. It is a win-win for NEWLIFE since the addition of yoga adds a much broader dimension to the world of possibilities. The advertisers of both will now reach a much wider population. My only dilemma is that I am still trying to figure out what the new logo should look like as I combine both names. I need your help. So… I am offering a $500 prize to the person that creates the new NEWLIFE magazine /NY Yoga magazine logo. Email your entry to Yogiman@newlifemag.com before August 5, and I wish you all good luck and may the best yogi or yogini win. As usual, this issue is filled with information that you won’t see anywhere else all in the same place. Isn’t our cover mind-blowing? Who else but NYC’s own Dharma Mittra, can do a headstand like that? Only a yogi who meditates on his head can be so pure that he can write an article on the ethics and morals of yoga. Practice those ethics and morals and maybe one day you too will do something extraordinary to end up on NY Yoga’s cover. I know you will love Dr. Brian Clements article on the history and future of raw live food. It makes sense that the vegetarian and raw food diets are the yogi’s first choice. Dr. John Douillard explains the synergy of yoga with ayurveda and Michael Stein does it again as he gives us more postures to overcome a very tight problem. For your enjoyment, Swami Beyondananda gives us his words of wisdom, Joseph-Mark Cohen takes us on an astrology ride and Tia Sinha’s yoga crossword puzzle will boggle your mind. Have a good summer, enjoy the expo and remember...It’s a NEWLIFE.
